Nicolette Wong

‘Music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.’

– Billy Joel

Having left Hong Kong at an early age to continue her studies in the United Kingdom, Nicolette Wong returned home after obtaining a Master of Arts from the University of Cambridge and a Master of Music from the Royal Academy of Music (London). Her former teachers include Ramona Kan, Katherine Lu, Hugh Petter, and Sulamita Aronovsky.

Nicolette has given recitals for the Liszt Society and the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe, and has performed in Greece, Poland, France, around the UK and in HK, including a recital as part of the LCSD’s ‘Our Music Talents’ series. Concerto appearances include the Schumann Concerto at St John’s Smith Square, London, with the London Soloists Chamber Orchestra under David Josefowicz. In recent years, Nicolette has performed in recital around the Greater China region in cities such as Macau, Guiyang, and Guangzhou, and has collaborated with violinist Chui-Tan Lee, bass-baritone Apollo Wong, soprano Lam Wing Wing as well as cellist Trey Lee in concerts and fundraising events. Nicolette has also recorded interviews and solo recitals for RTHK.

An avid writer, Nicolette’s articles have been published in RTHK’s Finemusic magazine, and she also helped edit the paper Comparing Funding Models: Conversations at the Hong Kong Arts Festival, February 2008 published in 2009. Nicolette was invited to serve on the jury for the 2009 and 2011 Hong Kong – Asia Piano Open Competition as well as the 11th and 12th Hong Kong (Asia) Piano Competition. She is the founder and programme director of ‘The Sound of Art’ Sunday concert series at the Hong Kong Museum of Art, and as a committed music educator, Nicolette founded Mousa Music Chambers, where she teaches piano and music appreciation.
