Enthusiastic about studying scores, collecting physical records, as well as attending live performances, London- and Hong Kong-based music writer Jude Leng attempts to record through words his perception of the unpreservable being of music—an act that JL believes is doomed to fail like that of Sisyphus, but in whose futility he enjoys a certain closeness to self-revelation.

From his studies of musical performance and compositional theories with various teachers around the world, JL has developed an obsession with string quartets, great Czech music since Smetana, early 20th-century Viennese music, and the Urfassung editions of Bruckner’s symphonies, while enjoying the exploration of often-neglected gems.
