Han is a history teacher and classical music writer based in Shanghai. Eastern Europe (Poland in particular) has been her obsession, as has Austro-German music (lied as a favourite genre). Having obtained her master’s degree from Harvard, Han has taught at St Paul’s Girls School in London and the University of Michigan. A German Academic Exchange Service scholarship took her to Berlin for two years. Han has published articles for the Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Concert Hall, Music Weekly, The Paper, and various platforms. As a hopelessly amateurish pianist, she still hopes to learn all Beethoven’s 32 sonatas before time is up.
