I was in a shop recently and found BeepEgg, an egg timer that goes into the water with your eggs and lets you know when they’re done. I bought the one with Classical Music themes, called BeepEgg Nori, decorated with what I can imagine as a kind of Beethovenian-style tousled look.
Swan Lake for soft-boiled eggs
Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky: Swan Lake, Op. 20 – Act I, The terrace in front of the palace of Prince Siegfried: No. 9. Finale: Andante: The Flight of Swans (South West German Radio Symphony Orchestra; Ahronovitch, Yuri, cond.)
In the Hall of the Mountain King for medium-boiled eggs
Edvard Grieg: Peer Gynt Suite No. 1, Op. 46 – IV. In the Hall of the Mountain King (Slovak State Philharmonic Orchestra, Košice ; Stephen Gunzenhauser, cond.)
Eine kleine Nachtmusik for hard-boiled eggs
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: Serenade No. 13 in G Major, K. 525, “Eine kleine Nachtmusik”: I. Allegro (Swedish Chamber orchestra; Petter Sundkvixt, cond.)
When you get your eggs to your liking, you remove the BeepEgg and cool it off. As it cools, it goes back through the music again. If you put it back in the fridge, you can hear it singing to the other eggs as it gets back to normal temperature. Very clever and very funny.
There are other BeepEggs for other musical tastes:
The Mozart one plays:
Der Vogelfänger for soft-boiled eggs
