From Richard Stoltzman – The Essential Clarinet (1999)

Released by BMG

Written in 1791 for the clarinetist Anton Stadler, this is one of Mozart’s final completed works before his death in December 1791.

The concerto has been chosen as the first My Music piece for its kaleidoscopic colours of life.

Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A (mov. I)

Allegro: Dawn, the beginning of the day. I feel hope, joy and energy.

Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A (mov. II)

Adagio: This movement brings love, tenderness, peace, nature and all the beauty of mankind.

Mozart: Clarinet Concerto in A (mov. III)

Ronda: This, the last movement, is so cheerful that, for me, it is simply a celebration of life.
