Siri Livingston

Siri Livingston thumbnailSiri Livingston is a composer living and working in London. Born to Danish and Canadian parents and raised in Hong Kong, Siri moved to the UK in 2017, where she went on to achieve a starred first-class distinction in her Bachelors of Music from the University of Cambridge, attending Newnham College and studying with Director of Music Delphine Mordey. At Cambridge, she specialised in Composition with Darren Bloom and was awarded a variety of commissions from college choirs and the Cambridge New Music Group. Upon graduating, she went on to earn her Masters of Composition from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, supervised by Sylvia Lim, with the support of a generous Guildhall School Scholarship.

Siri’s compositions are thoughtful, conceptually inventive, narratively and dramaturgically surprising, and make logical and heartfelt use of timbre, unique harmonic sensibility, and a sense of line. She has been privileged to have been able to write for harpist Olivia Jageurs, cutting-edge vocal group EXAUDI, the Plus-Minus Ensemble, the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, and players from the London Symphony Orchestra (in a workshop conducted by Jack Sheen). Her work has thus far been performed in London, Cambridge, Canterbury, France, Estonia, and Hong Kong, and she received mentorship from Judith Weir and Deborah Pritchard as part of the Minerva Composition Competition, in which she was a finalist.

She has a keen interest in music history and the philosophy of music, and is a voraciously broad listener, drawing influence from not only classical music but every genre under the sun.
