2024 marks Ping Pong’s 10th anniversary and, in celebration, Hong Kong’s famous gintoneria has put together a programme of events throughout the year. Says director, Juan Gregorio Martinez, ‘As Ping Pong has had the honour of hosting performances by Francesco Tristano twice before, we felt that the anniversary programme should kick off with a show by this legendary musician.’
Francesco Tristano (b. Luxembourg, 1981) is one the most versatile musicians of his generation. He tours the world performing baroque as well as contemporary piano pieces; and produces dance tracks for electronic music labels, all whilst continuing with his ambitious project of recording the complete keyboard works of Johann Sebastian Bach. His simultaneous fascination for the pure tones of the baroque era and the renaissance as well as the rhythmic pulse of techno make for a rare musical personality. In his first performance in Hong Kong since 2018, he will perform selections of his original compositions from his albums On Early Music and Tokyo Stories, as well as highlights of his latest album: Bach The Six English Suites.
