Taking place as part of the York Early Music Festival, the biennial event is recognized as a major international platform for emerging talent in the early music world. The competition strives to develop excellence in the performance of music from the middle ages to the 19th century. Since its inception in 1985, the contest has helped numerous ensembles to reach a wider public and acquaint valuable guidance and experience. Internationally established composers, conductors and musicians are invited as jurors. Opportunities for performance, recording and broadcasting are given to successful music ensembles group.
