Founded by Austrian conductor and director Gustav Kuhn, the first edition opened in 1998 with a performance of “Rheingold”. Located at Erl, a small village in the Tyrol county, festival concerts are mainly held at play houses in the parish as well as at various outdoor venues. Besides, the Tyrolean Festival is the central venue where the Erl Passion takes place every six years.
