Founded in 1977, the contest is held every four years at Australia’s iconic performing arts centre, Sydney Opera House. International pianists aged between 18 and 33 can participate and perform in front of the jury panel comprises professional pianists, music educators, conductors and composers including the Artistic Director, Prof. Warren Milton Thomson. The competition repertoire includes chamber music, vocal accompaniment and solo concerto. All stages of the competition are broadcasted live throughout Australia and worldwide on the internet by Australian Broadcasting Corporation’s radio station, ABC Classic FM. Major prize winners will be invited to perform at international music festivals and concerts throughout Australia, Europe, United States and Asia.
