Established in 1949, the annual classical music festival is held in the East Bohemian town of Litomyšl, the birthplace of Smetana. Open-air opera performances and concert recitals are presented in the 16th-century Renaissance Litomyšl Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage List site. Works by Bedřich Smetana and other Czech composers are the highlights of the event, with a special focus on various vocal repertoires.
