Date: May 19 to June 4, 2023
Country: Singapore
Started in 1977 as a national showcase celebrating the local arts of Singapore’s diverse communities, the festival is held in mid-year for a stretch of one month, incorporating theatre arts, dance, music and visual arts, as well as other art forms. Through presenting a series of programmes with a distinctive Asian flavour, it has helped transform the city’s landscape, turning it into one of Asia’s major cultural capitals. Since 2008, a specific theme is set for each year’s event including “Water” (2008), “Between You and Me” (2010) and “I Want To Remember” (2011). Besides, the festival also actively promotes arts to new audience via the signature year-long outreach programme “com.mune:Participation”.
