First launched in 1973, the event is an extension of the traditional Salzburg Summer Festival. It is held annually during Whitsun weekend at the Grosses Festspielhaus in Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart and a city famous for “The Sound of Music”. Operas and works from the Baroque orchestral repertoire are performed during the festival.
