Founded in 1990 by Leonard Bernstein, the event is an international educational music festival held in Sapporo, Japan. Through hosting a series of quality concerts, the festival ultimately hopes to fulfill Bernstein’s passion: to contribute world peace through music. The foundation also runs The PMF Academy, a month-long comprehensive musical training programme dedicated to young musicians worldwide, specializing in Orchestral Performance, String Quartet and Music Composition.
