Founded in 1993 by the former pupils and friends of Lily Laskine, the competition is a triennial event held in Paris honouring the memory of the great harpist. The contest divides into senior and junior sections. Participants are required to perform a diverse repertoire ranges from early Renaissance period to the 20th century, including one commissioned work composed especially for the contest. The jury members consist of experienced harpists and professors. Former jurors include Elisabeth Hainen and Masumi Nagasawa. Successful contestant will be offered a contract for CD recording by Victor Salvi Foundation in addition to concert engagements. Previous winners include Catrin Finch and Christine Icart.
