On occasion, classically trained performers have ventured — more or less successfully —into the world of popular music and jazz. But music is not a one-way street as it clearly also works in the other direction. Take for example Keith Jarrett, who made his name touring with Art Blakey, Charlie Haden and Miles Davis. But Jarrett also maintained a parallel career in classical music, recording not only his own compositions, but also works by Bach, Shostakovich and Arvo Pärt.
