Launched in 1991 by Professor Siegfried Matthus, the festival is created for young singers at the historical Castle Rheinsberg, a muse yard built by Friedrich II in Brandenburg. Experienced conductors such as Daniel Barenboim, Harry Kupfer and Kurt Masur work with winners of international singing contests and elites to perform different opera classics and beautiful arias. Many artists first started there can now be heard at the New York Metropolitan Opera, La Scala and various international opera houses.
