Since its first edition in 1987, the triennial competition has evolved to become one of the most prestigious chamber music event. Atop its history, the event is also famous for its strict awarding criteria – only five out eight editions had a winner. In 2011, Gunter Pichler from Alban Berg Quartet, Jana Kuss from Kuss Quartet, composer Giya Kancheli and more top chamber musicians will be amongst the jury panel to select the finest winner. It is their belief that “The winner of Premio Paolo Borciani has to be worth it and it has to be an absolute winner.”
