Named after Jascha Heifetz, the competition was first launched in 2001 to foster the timeless musical legacy of the violin virtuoso. Participants will perform a wide range of repertoire from 16th to 20th century, including sonata, concerto and a compulsory work by a Vilnius composer. Chaired by Gidon Kremer, the jury panel comprises established violinists and professors from around the world. In addition to cash prizes, the chosen laureates will have a chance to perform with the renowned orchestra Kremerata Baltica at the National Philharmonic Hall.
