Taking place every three years, the competition is especially dedicated to young pianists with an upper age limit of 16. Under the auspices of the renowned Austrian pianist Alfred Brendel, candidates’ performance will be judged by a jury panel of 11 members. The highlight of the competition lies in the second round, in which candidates are required to team up with a noted pianist assigned by the competition to give a piano four hands performance, on works by the specific composers or works by candidates themselves, or one improvisatory piece on a set theme. As for the third round, candidates are to perform a set piece together with the orchestra of the Musikgymnasium Schloss Belvedere.
