Established in 1983, the festival aims to present to its audience European musical performance of high quality, featuring Turkish musicians and works by Turkish composers. Located in the capital city, the venue is where the country’s first music conservatory, ballet institution, theatre schools, symphonic orchestra, and opera performance were established. Taking place every year in spring spanning over one month, the programmes of the festival include performances of symphonic and chamber orchestras, recitals, ballet, choral music, dance, jazz and traditional Turkish music. Highlights also include premieres of new works as well as master classes given by prominent guest musicians and artists.
