Date: November 7 to 25, 2018
Launched in 1991 in commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the founding of Hamamatsu City, southern Japan, the competition is held every three years in the Act City Hamamatsu Main Hall and Concert Hall. It aims to encourage the development of music and culture in the city and to foster the growth of young pianists for the international music scene. Many previous prize winners have also received recognitions from other prestigious contests including Alexander Kobrin, Rafal Blechacz and Alexander Gavrylyuk. In addition to solo works and chamber music, contestants will perform a new composition written by a Japanese composer for the competition. Established pianists from around the world are invited to be the juries, including Jean-Claude Pennetier, Akiko Ebi and Andrei Pisarev.

- The Alice & Eleonore Schoenfeld International String Competition First established in 2013, the competition aims to promote highly gifted young musicians.
