Founded in 1992 by renowned musicologist and critic Seppo Heikinheimo, the event was originally a chamber music festival in Finland. With Valery Gergiev as festival director since 1993, the festival has transformed and now features also symphonic and opera performances. Taking place in Mikkeli, concerts are mainly held in the Wooden Church and Mikaeli Hall where guests will enjoy the city’s scenic lake views.
