Founded in 1989 by the late financier Leonard Ingrams, the characteristic feature of Garsington Opera’s programming has been the combination of well-known operas with discoveries of little known works. Located in Wormsley Park since 2011, the festival produces opera of the highest professional quality in a setting of extraordinary beauty. With performances taking place on the open pavilion, guests can enjoy wonderful scenery of parkland, complete with lake and deer in the grand English country estate. Besides having championed rarely performed works of artistic interest and high musical quality, Garsington Opera also gives performing opportunities to the finest young singers in the country and engages conductors and stage directors of distinction.
