Founded in 1946 by Eloise MacDonald Snyder, Betty Spain, both opera singers, and Jeanne Axtell Walker, the Fort Worth Opera is one of the fourteen oldest opera companies in America. Held in Bass Performance Hall at downtown Fort Worth of Texas, the event has helped promote the career of some of the prominent artists of our time, such as Placido Domingo and Beverly Sills. Apart from concerts, a singer’s apprentice program named The Fort Worth Opera Studio is also held, giving new singers training and experience. As part of its educational outreach, a “Student Night at the Opera” is also available.
