Opened in 1998, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden is Germany’s largest opera house and concert hall. The venue hosts four festivals throughout the year, namely the Easter, Whitsun, Summer, Autumn and Winter Festivals. At least one opera production and several classical concerts are included in each seasonal event, together with guest performances of renowned ballet companies and entertainment shows completing the rest of the programme. Besides, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden regularly cooperates with the Mariinsky (Kirov) Theatre St. Petersburg, the Festival d’Aix-en-Provence and many other leading opera houses and festivals. Apart from performances, an annual presentation of the Herbert von Karajan Music Prize to an outstanding international musician is also a highlight.
