Since its inauguration in 1990, the festival has become one of the largest classical music festivals in Germany. Held every year at the picturesque landscape in the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern area, it features talented musicians of its own region in addition to works by established composers from the state. To support up-and-coming artists, promising young musicians from around the world have been invited to perform as soloists or ensembles under the“Junge Elite” series since 1995. Among many other series, the “Small Festival in the Big Park” held at the backdrop of Ludwigslust’s baroque castle has been one of the highlights since 2010. Dazzling performances on twenty different stages are organized in the castle garden, providing a refreshing open-air concert experience to the audience.
