Established in 1946, the festival has been one of the biggest classical music events in Europe offering a wide series of programmes covering symphonies, famous operas, chamber music and piano recitals. Located in Lake Geneva at the foot of the Alps, the event certainly offers an unparalleled cultural and historical ambience adding on to the musical sensation. The well-being in the area characterized by its famous private clinics and heavenly sceneries have been regarded as a place of inspiration and hence attracted many celebrities and artists to dwell in- amongst them are Victor Hugo, Ernest Hemingway, Charlie Chaplin, Igor Stravinsky, just to name a few. Apart from embracing the beautiful music at festival venues like the Stravinski Auditorium, the Vevey Theatre, and the Chillon Castle, guests can also visit the famous Crêtes Castle, Châtelard Castle in the area.
