Although concerts featuring Hector Berlioz’s music have started as a regular tradition as early as the 1950s, the form of a music festival did not occur until later. First held in 1994 at La Côte-Saint-André in southeastern France, the birthplace of Berlioz, the event has been one of the major local functions dedicated to the composer’s music. As one of the few symphonic music festivals in France, the event matches its world class music with the unparalleled grandeur of ambience at the Château Louis XI. Besides embracing the beautiful music by local orchestras, guests will also find pleasure visiting the Saint-Antoine l’Abbaye, La Halle Médiévale, and the Hector Berlioz Museum.
