First launched in 1970 by Madame Suzanne Chevalier, the biennial competition has become a major French musical event since then. It aims to provide a unique experience for young and talented musicians to be in contact with various piano schools. The jury is composed of international personalities from the music scene, including established pianists, composers and professors. In addition to the top four prizes, the Contemporary Music Prize will be awarded to the best performance of the work dated after 1970. Successful contestants will perform in different festivals such as Concerts Classiques in Epinal, and Le Salon de Musique in Franche-Comté.
