The sight of top athletes such as Michael Phelps or Serena Williams relaxing before a major event with a pair of headphones clamped to their ears is now commonplace.

But the idea of 40 racehorses lining up for the Grand National each listening to a personalised playlist of soothing classical tunes seems somewhat less plausible.

New research from France, however, suggests that may be exactly what the future holds. Full story.
