Established in 2005, the competition is a triennial event held in Qingdao, a city in eastern China famous for its coastal beauty. Young violinists aged between 16 and 36 can participate and perform in front of a knowledgeable jury. Former jurors include Masao Kawasaki and Lin Yaoji. Finalists are accompanied by established orchestras such as the Qingdao Symphony Orchestra during their performances of the selected violin concerto. Audio and video recordings of successful contestants will be published. Prize winners will be engaged in future concert tours in China. Previous winners include Ning Feng and Hilde Simone Lamsma.
