Founded in 1971 by violinist Sergiu Luca, the festival is dedicated to the performance and promotion of chamber music. Located at Portland, Oregon, the event presents an annual five-week summer festival that occurs during the months of June and July. Performances are held at selected halls on the campus of Reed College, the Catlin Gabel School and Portland State University. Besides, the festival is famous for offering wide-ranging and varied repertoire covering baroque and classical masterpieces to world premieres, including commissioned works from Joan Tower, Ellen Taafe Zwilich, Peter Schickele, Bright Sheng and many others. Performances of the festival will be broadcast live at local radio stations.
