Brought together by the International Youth Orchestra Academy (IJOA), the Bayreuth Easter Festival has been providing music by world-class artists with a charitable cause. The money raised every Easter at the concerts and through CD sales, is donated to hospitals in the region of performance to support children suffering from cancer and other serious illnesses. Since the foundation of the festival in 1995, it has had two additional aims: providing experience and opportunities for contemporary musicians and the promotion of international understanding. The programme ranges from symphonic and chamber orchestra concerts to organ music, festival brass, jazz and salon orchestra. The performances take place in the Margravial Opera House and other beautiful historic venues in Bayreuth.
