First established in 2013, the competition aims to promote highly gifted young musicians. Named after Alice and Eleonore Schoenfeld, renowned violinist and cellist, the competition divides into three categories: violin, cello, and chamber music. The international jury comprises professional strings musicians across Asia, Europe and the United States. Former jurors include Lynn Harrell, Benedict Cruft, Vera Tsu and more. Special awards are presented to contestants with outstanding performance of a new Chinese piece in each category.
